Dieselpunk refers to a branch of the pop-surrealist (aka “low brow”) artistic movement popularized in the early 2000s. Dieselpunk style combines the aesthetics of the Interbellum period with modern technology and sensibilities. Coined in 2001 by Lewis Pollack to describe his role-playing game Children of the Sun, the term now refers to a distinctive style of graphic art, music, film, fashion, literature, and even architecture. The self-derisive motto of the genre is, "Dieselpunk, because Steampunk wasn't dirty enough."
